A getaway cruise vacation

Dear All,

This was certainly an experience!! Posting this onto our blog was not the main problem. My main problem was dealing with the noise surrounding my voice recording which could have originated from a bad microphone. I tried to solve this problem by increasing the sound of the music and playing with the rest.

Please note that I will try to learn how to solve this noise problem and fix this Ad!

Happy Chanukah!

Internet dating / Podcast # 2

Dear All,

This ESL Podcast is divided into two parts. One part is a slow rendition which describes internet dating and defines various words and expressions in English, and the second part is the same script as an actual dialogue. The first part is extremely slow and the definitions of the words for the ESL audience/student are clear. However, the speaker's voice was too monotonous, robotic and definitely not an example of authentic English in context. This part is too long and makes the listener quickly lose interest. The speaker makes the whole online dating experience sound like some boring job search for people in a desperate situation. The internet seems to be a place where we search and screen future candidates in order to know if they fit the essential criteria and are "good enough". "What do you have to lose" is the expression which in that context seems to have a negative connotation. This definitely does not make the online internet dating an exciting experience!

I can honestly state from real-life experience that you have nothing to lose! Internet dating and meeting my husband was the best thing I ever did!

Absolutely-intercultural Podcast # 1

Dear colleagues,

In this podcast, one of the topics discussed was how two distant communities participated in a virtual experience and shared their ideas and perceptions (the Talpiot college teacher trainers in Israel and the deaf community in the US.). It was interesting to hear that after their virtual exchange, most of the participants expressed eagerness to meet on a face-to-face basis ….. a simple human need!

I firmly believe that we must do all we can to build bridges of communication and widen our horizons. This is a must as part of our education and more importantly, as human beings.
